One of the most extensive of Macaé, São José do Barreto Beach is known for its tranquility. With slightly choppy waters and a large stretch of golden sand, it has many close and moderate trade homes. It is easily accessible from the road one can see the sea. Although it is suitable for bathing, it is little frequented by tourists and locals, who prefer to take refuge in other busier beaches. Being a very rich area for fishing, its main visitors are fishermen and women who repair fishing nets. It's a good place for those who like to walk, or admire the setting of the sun. San Jose Barreto
